Yesterday was an amazing day for Osler – we closed off the past year with our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and then we signalled the start of a new chapter with the public launch of our 2013-18 Strategic Plan. Based on the show of support at these events it’s clear that our bond with patients, partners and our community is stronger than ever!
Speaking on behalf of Osler’s Board of Directors, Vice Chair, John Davies, summed it up beautifully in saying that it was a year of tremendous success, significant accomplishment, and a time that we became more aware than ever of our position as a recognized health system leader.
Following the AGM, we officially launched our Strategic Plan to the community, our peers and partners. Our new strategic direction was told through a new video and the words of real people connected to Osler. The video does an outstanding job of representing who we are and celebrates the men and women who “Go Beyond” every day to provide patient-inspired care without boundaries.
Joining us was also Jason Wolf, PhD, President of the Beryl Institute and a recognized thought leader on the subject of service excellence and the patient experience. He spoke brilliantly about the significance of service excellence in health care and remarked on all of the great work Osler is doing in this area. Check out his blog post mentioning his visit here!
The highlight of the afternoon came in the form of an announcement of a very generous gift – a $3 million donation to the Osler Foundation. This gift was made ever more special because it comes from Osler’s own Volunteer Association – individuals who are so passionate about providing exemplary patient care they contribute in every possible way to ensure Osler’s success today and tomorrow. On behalf our patients and community, we are so grateful for your donation.
My sincere thanks to the Osler team, donors and community partners for contributing to a great year for Osler and the communities we serve.
